Three Bath Spa mentoring schemes for students provide the opportunity for them to network and learn from local employers and Bath Spa graduates, which helps to bridge the gap between university and employment.
Get in touch with us about becoming a mentor on one of our schemes, which will allow you to share your experience and skills, as well as give a student an invaluable insight into a career in your organisation or industry. You can also advise your student mentee on how to make well-informed choices about their future career. The schemes also offer employers exposure to the graduate market.
“The industry mentors programme is a two-way vehicle. Not only has the student benefited, but it has been beneficial for me to step outside the world of newspapers and has given me a fresh perspective on the industry I work in.”
Graham Holburn, Assistant Editor, Bath Chronicle
We regularly welcome people from external organisations to our ‘Industry Insights’ events. These are a suite of Q&A panel events where an audience of students hears the latest from diverse job market sectors direct from employers. The ‘industry experts’ on the panel are asked to share a little of themselves, their journey to where they are now in their career, and give students tips and advice on how to secure work experience and graduate jobs.
“It was interesting to come along to speak on an Industry Insights panel. I will in future definitely bear Bath Spa University in mind when it comes to work experience, internships and employment for graduates.”
Jo Downes, Hinton Organics
We want all our students to have sound practice-based commercial awareness. It is important for our students to recognise that enterprise requires a dynamic mindset that responds to customer and market needs. Deliver a workshop to a group of our students on a topic of your choice and pass on your knowledge to employees of the future. This also enables you to engage with and understand the current student and graduate market. Previous sessions have included CV clinics, mock interviews, presentation skills, PR, business planning and social enterprise.
