Overview

This four-day course will introduce you to the world of traditional textile printing using different techniques. You will learn basic skills in fabric dying and printing using the screen printing technique, direct painting and using the heat press. You will have the opportunity to express ideas and creativity through the medium of cloth and colour.

Course Fee                      

£160 (max 10 persons)

You will be provided with all basic materials and 2m of cotton fabric per person. Delegates will be able to purchase additional materials to realise more ambitious projects from the course leader during the course. 

Please bring an apron, domestic gloves (plastic/rubber/latex/ nitrile), some un-dyed fabric (optional), your own paintbrushes of various sizes, a notebook and pen, sketches and/or ideas of an image you would like to realise in print. 

You will need to bring your own lunch.  Facilities for beverages will be available throughout the day.

Course Content

  • Introduction to dyes: demonstration and practical
  • Printing demonstration and practical exercise: mono printing, heat press, stencil printing
  • Review of work.

Learning Outcomes

  • Acquire basic knowledge of fabric dyeing
  • Be able to express creative ideas using various techniques on cloth
