Overview

Unlike most printmaking techniques that rely on expensive materials and equipment, Japanese watercolour woodblock printmaking is a traditional method that you can easily use at home.  Local artist printmaker, Jane Randfield, is your tutor to guide you on this exciting creative taster day.

Course Tutor        

Jane Randfield has worked in London and Bath as a freelance illustrator and artist for over 20 years.  Having worked in both further and higher education, she is now combining her freelance work with the position of Printmaking Technician at Bath Spa University.

Course Time

9:30am to 4.00pm

Course Fee

£70 (max 6 persons per course)
You will be provided with all basic materials within the course fee.

Please bring an apron and wear old clothes, as all ink is oil-based.  Bring a notebook and pencil, plus images to work from - eg drawings, sketchbooks, photographs.  An A4 portfolio or similar would be useful to carry your work back home in.  You will need to bring your own lunch.  Facilities for beverages will be available throughout the day. 

Course Content

  •  You will learn this beautiful technique, including registration, use of paper and pigment.
  • Review of work.

 Learning Outcomes           

  •  All students will have the opportunity to produce at least one print with at least two colours.
  • Learn a traditional technique that can be easily used at home.
