Overview

This four-day course provides an introduction to digital print technology and design for textile practitioners and artists.  Participants will explore digital software applications to create and print designs of industry standard Mimake® printers.

Course Fee

£250 (max 10 persons)

You will be provided with all basic materials and 2m of cotton fabric per person. Delegates may be able to purchase additional materials to realise more ambitious projects from the course leader during the course if time allows.

Please bring a notebook and pen, and an image/photo/sketch to work from.  You must have basic computer skills. However, No prior knowledge of the design packages  is needed.

You will need to bring your own lunch.  Facilities for beverages will be available throughout the day.

Course Content

  • Introduction and tutorial in the use of Photoshop CS4®
  • Introduction and tutorial in the use layout software, Smartprint®
  • Learning about fabrics and fabric finishing
  • Loading and printing with Mimake® printers
  • Review of work

Learning Outcomes

  • Acquire basic knowledge of digital textile print processes
  • Samples of designs on a variety of fabrics
  • Learn how to source commercial printing for your designs
