If you are looking to recruit volunteers for your organisation, Just V - Bath Spa University's voluntary promotion service, may be able to help.
Last year, over 560 Bath Spa students volunteered - either on campus or in the local area. Students are very conscious of the need to enhance their academic learning with extra-curricular activities and employers definitely value voluntary experience when it comes to recruiting graduate employees. Therefore, there is a good chance that we will be able to match your requirements with suitable students, depending on the nature of the opportunity.
Criteria
Student volunteers can be a great addition to your organisation and can bring energy, passion and creativity to the role you give them. They do, however, face certain constraints and it is worth bearing these in mindwhen deciding whether student volunteers are appropriate for you.
Whilst many students live permanently in Bath, most will leave the area between June and October and for a further three weeks at Christmas and Easter. Additionally, many courses operate a two-week alternating timetable, which means some students (although not all by any means) may not be able to commit to exactly the same day each week. Exams and course work requirements are very intense after Easter and we tend not to have a particularly high uptake of opportunities at this time.
However, every student has slightly different circumstances, so there are no hard-and-fast rules. If you'd like to discuss whether student volunteers may be appropriate for your opportunities, then please contact our Just V Coordinator, Susan Hammond.
