Part-Time and Vacation Work for Students

Overview

Bath Spa University has over 6,000 students, of which 80% take up part-time work to gain valuable experience during term time. We are, therefore, constantly seeking part-time and vacation opportunities for our students. If you have a suitable position that you would like to advertise to our students, we'd like to hear from you.

The Job Shop Service for Businesses

Every year our Job Shop advertises over 2,000 part-time and vacation job opportunities to our students and over 400 employers regularly look for our students to fill their vacancies.

The Job Shop is a student employment service, based on campus, which offers a free advertising service to employers. It matches students with local part-time opportunities and local, regional or national vacation work.

Please note that the service is open during term-time only.

Your vacancies will be advertised via our dedicated online Careerhub. Your advertisement is exclusive to students registered with Careerhub and we attract applications via regular email alerts to students. We can also arrange presentations and interview facilities for you on campus.

Employment Criteria

As a guideline, we recommend that full-time students work no more than 15 hours per week during term-time, to allow sufficient time for their academic studies. However, we may have part-time or postgraduate students, who have more free time to work longer hours. You could also consider the possibility of dividing a full-time vacancy into two or more part-time jobs.

Employers are required to note the Job Shop Code of Practice.

How to Advertise your Vacancy

Register online and create an account if your organisation is not already represented on Careerhub. On receipt of your ID and password, upload your vacancy details on Careerhub. Once approved, it will be promoted to our students.

Enhanced Service

Our enhanced Job Shop service allows you to recruit students even more effectively, particularly for positions which you need to fill rapidly or for those you'd like to open to all students, ie not just those registered on Careerhub.

On a 'first come first served' basis, we invite you to have your vacancy designated as 'Hot Job of the Week'. The details will be included in the latest edition of the Bath Spa Careers/Job Shop E-Bulletin distributed to all 6,000 students. This option is available at a cost of £50 plus VAT.

Recruitment Agencies

We also offer a specialised service to recruitment agencies for a small charge of £100 plus VAT per academic year, for which you will be able to:

Advertise an unlimited number of vacancies throughout the year on our website.
Display one A3 or A4 poster on our Job Shop opportunities board, to advertise your agency throughout the year.
Have your literature promoted by our Job Shop staff to students interested in finding work through an agency.
One email per year promoting one of your vacancies as 'Hot Job of the Week', which would be included in the latest E-Bulletin distributed to all 6,000 students during term time.
