Students Manage their Mingling!

If only three in ten job vacancies in the UK are openly advertised to the public, how do you go about finding the 70% of jobs in the hidden job market? A free networking event in liaison with the Federation of Small Businesses brough Bath Spa University students together with businesses from the BANES locality, so that students and imminent graduates could meet potential employers and introduce themselves to local industry networks.

Prior to the networking event, the University's Business Support Office facilitated a 'Manage Your Mingling' training session for students.  This three-hour workshop made the concept of networking less intimidating by helping them to read body language, approach groups of strangers with confidence, ensure their introduction is interesting, end conversations gracefully and purposefully and maximise their opportunities before, during and after the event.
