Rona Fineman Welcomed to Performing Arts Mentoring Residency

The Department for Dance, Drama and Performing Arts at Bath Spa University is delighted that Rona Fineman is taking up a Performing Arts Mentoring Residency during this academic year.
In this role, Rona will mentor the University’s two graduate performing arts businesses – The Ruffled Umbrella Company and the Nice As Pie Dance Theatre – to help them develop their companies and make their way in the competitive theatre world. She will also undertake a six month mentoring partnership with a third year undergraduate as well as being a judge for the University’s business plan competition.
On accepting the post, Rona says: “I was delighted to be offered the opportunity to take up the Performing Arts Mentoring Residency at Bath Spa. I feel very committed to helping fledgling theatre companies gain the knowledge and experience they need to flourish. I very much look forward to getting involved.”
Rona Fineman has 35 years’ experience of working in the arts in a variety of contexts including periods at The Crucible in Sheffield and the Drama Studio at the University of Sheffield, where she was Deputy Manager. For many years, until Spring 2000, she ran Bristol and Bath Arts Marketing Agency, a marketing and audience development agency funded by the Arts Council of England.
With a wide experience within the performing arts, Rona now works as a freelance arts marketing consultant, specialising in marketing planning and research. Her clients have included the Arts Council England, Arts About Manchester, Bath Festivals Trust, Arnolfini, Union Dance Company and Arts Council England (South West). She runs the Wickham Theatre in the Drama Department at Bristol University on a part-time basis and has recently completed the two year Arts Council funded project, Debut, developing new and emerging theatre companies in Bath. Rona is continuing this work for the Arts Development team at Bath and North East Somerset Council. She has been a visiting tutor on the Performing Arts course at Bath Spa University.
Rona is a Director of Audiences South West, a member of the Board of ArtsMatrix, a Trustee of Wiltshire Music Centre and Chair of the Board of Trustees of Firebird Theatre. She is a former Director of the Arts Marketing Association and was Chair of Bristol Area Dance Agency.
