InSparation in Demand
16th October 2009
Forty-two Bath Spa University students and graduates came to The Blue Rooms in Bath to find out more about InSparation at its launch event. This new enterprise club aims to provide activities and events that develop students' business and networking skills.
Welcomed by InSparation's President - Nigel Puddy, students were then treated to a stimulating performance by Nice As Pie, a Bath Spa University graduate theatre company.
Sam Dixon, commercial music graduate and winner of the University's business plan competition in April 2009, returned to give an inspiring talk on his experiences and philosophy as a young entrepreneur. The secret of Sam's success is 'not to be 'content' in his 20s, always moving forward' to avoid becoming complacent and to stick to three golden principles: 'start with the end in mind', 'don't have a safety net' and 'slow is fast and fast is slow when it comes to building meaningful business relationships'.
With many students signing up for membership on the night, InSparation is set for an exciting year.
The next open event will be on 16 November during National Enterprise Week, when a panel of industry experts and entrerpreneurs will discuss topical business issues with students. The Beermat Challenge Round of this year's business plan competition will also be part of this event.
