Graduate theatre company Unique Voice has a lot to shout about

11th June 2010

Performing Arts Graduates from Bath Spa University are celebrating a triumphant year of success with their theatre company Unique Voice climaxing with a debut of their new production ‘For the Love of Robert’ at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this year.

After graduating in 2009 Unique Voice founders pursued its ambition to create a successful Bristol based theatre company. Having formed strong links with Bristol City Council and gained mentors in the forms of Katie Keeler, Creative Producer of Theatre Bristol and Ally Hill, Director of The Tobacco Factory, the founding team of graduates has successfully secured £2200 of sponsorship and arts funding to invest in the growth of their business. Amongst other things such as venue hire and logo design, monies will be used to launch their new website www.uniquevoicetheatre.com.

The fledgling company has also secured performance and workshop commissions with The Miskin Theatre Academy in Kent and with Bath Spa Live.

Unique Voice is currently in full swing with pre-production for their forthcoming Edinburgh Fringe Festival debut ‘For the Love of Robert’ with an invitation only professional work-in-progress evening taking place at The Brewery Theatre, Bristol on the 28th of June at 7pm. This evening is an opportunity for the company to gain some constructive feedback on the production prior to the festival launch where they will be performing at Greenside Venue.

Claire Farnham, company director says “Our debut at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this year and the imminent launch of our website has been largely financed through the kind generosity of a number of individuals and organisations; Chris Gilbert, a local musician, sponsored us £200 which we put towards the cost of designing our logo, Tom Clark trustee of the JAC Trust sponsored us £1000 to pay for our venue hire and also kindly offered to fully finance our research trip to Belfast and London based Bank “Williams Lea Banking” is covering all of the printing costs. More recently we have received funding of £1000 from the national arts organisation “Ideas Tap” under their “Innovators Fund” which was awarded to 10 projects, an achievement that we are all very proud of as we were one of 600 original applicants.”
