Final Year Music Student is Musician in Residence at RUH
22nd January 2010
Rosanna Campbell, a final year Music student at Bath Spa University, has recently been given the role of Musician in Residence at the Royal United Hospital in Bath. This came about due to a business idea that Rosanna has been developing, with advice from the University’s Entrepreneur-in-Residence, for providing music lessons to patients as a form of therapy that could improve brain function, reduce stress and improve communication skills.

As well as these benefits, it is of course a fun, social activity that is extremely rewarding and increases self-esteem. Rosanna hopes that through music, she can create a positive atmosphere in the hospital for patients – and staff.
At the Royal United Hospital, Rosanna will be giving performances on the wards, running workshops and also giving free instrumental tuition to patients and staff.
Rosanna plays clarinet, saxophone and flute and has performed with many orchestras including the National Youth Orchestra chamber ensemble and Devon Youth Orchestra.
