Bath Spa University Graduate Mentors Scheme

You may not realise it but, as a graduate, you represent a valuable source of information for current Bath Spa students planning their careers and looking for a way in to their chosen industry!

By signing up to be a Bath Spa Graduate Mentor, you can help Bath Spa students by sharing details about what’s involved in your job, what it’s like working for your employer or being self-employed, your experience of the industry you work in, and tips on the recruitment process or breaking in to a profession.

For a Bath Spa student exploring career options, work environments or company cultures, getting in touch with a Bath Spa Graduate Mentor can be a great way to learn, network and gain a real-world perspective.

The role of a Graduate Mentor is simply to share your experience – you will not be expected to act as a professional adviser.  You will be volunteering a small amount of your time as a practical resource for those seeking to find answers about their chosen career or profession.  On the whole, it will involve simple questions being answered by email or phone on an occasional basis. One contact with an individual student may be all that is needed. You may also opt out of the scheme at any time.

The benefits to students are obvious, however mentors benefit too.  Often, our mentors say they get a real buzz from knowing they’ve helped someone make progress and improve their chances for the future.  As a mentor, you will also find that the experience builds your own skills, plus it’s an activity you can add to your CV.

How to Become a Bath Spa Graduate Mentor

Just provide us with a few details about yourself in the attached form and email it back to us.

A brief profile about you will be listed on our secure online Bath Spa CareerHub, which is only accessible to current Bath Spa students registered on CareerHub. Your contact details will not be displayed.  Students with an enquiry appropriate to your industry/expertise will be put in touch with you according to your preferred method of contact.
